The is an area where vehicle is king and fuel is cheap, frequently leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.
But this year, as demonstrations across the Middle East have risen the rate of oil, the concern of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In a region that has one of the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one organization is making the most of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving lucrative too, already their client-list contains McDonald's.
